FIELD: railway track repair and maintenance equipment. SUBSTANCE: device has carriage with nut runners mounted on it. Each nut runner incorporates reduction unit with driving shaft and driven shaft located in parallel. Mounted on driving shaft and driven shaft are two pairs of driving gears and driven gears for transmitting higher or lower rotation speed to driven shaft. One gear of pair is freely seated on its shaft for alternate engagement with coupling unit of shaft so as to ensure engagement of lower rotation speed gear with coupling unit of freewheeling clutch installed between them. For engagement of second gear ensuring higher rotation speed with coupling unit, they are installed on driven shaft and are provided with locking members. One of locking member is installed on coupling unit. Other locking member is installed on gear. They are interconnected by torsion spring. Application of embodiment of device allows for ensuring high initial torque at minimal permissible installed power of driving motor so as to break away nut from its place with subsequent automatic provision of higher torque due to automatic shifting of spindle rotation speed from lower rotation speed to higher rotation speed.
