FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: according to method, compaction of water-saturated ground is effected by subjecting its surface to impact action of heavy tamper. Immediately before impact of tamper, ground is subjected to vibration. Source of vibration is located in plan close to place of tamper impact. Vibration is effected with intensity and duration ensuring creation of diluted zone in ground. Also applied is additional vibration with intensity and duration ensuring creation in ground of zone with acoustic cavitation of water in pores. Dimensions of zone ensures its overlapping of zone of draining natural ground or of zone of drain made in ground. If ground around place of tamper impact is weighted with plate having opening for location of tamper, sources of vibration are installed on plate and generate vibration of plate. Application of method enhances efficiency of compacting water-saturated ground due to larger addition to density of ground and due to its wider involvement into compacting process, also due to acceleration of compacting process and more uniform compaction at inflicting impact to ground surface by tamper.
