FIELD: metal continuous casting. SUBSTANCE: removable cover plates installed on surfaces of walls inclined in their upper part are sectional. Installed on ends of removable cover plates are changeable inserts with angle β of inclination relative to vertical. Difference of angles of inclination of inclined part of removable cover plate and changeable insert amounts to γ-β = 2-8 deg. Ratio of thickness of changeable insert b1 to removable cover plate b on vertical part equals b1/b = 0.2-0.9. Surface of inclined part is narrowing in upper part of angle of α = 2-7 deg to vertical.
