FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, designs of continuous casting molds. SUBSTANCE: removable cover plates are installed on internal surfaces of mold walls inclined in their upper part and made dismountable. Changeable inserts with β angle of inclination to vertical are located from edges of removable cover plates adjacent to mold vertical walls. Width c of changeable insert is related to width a of entire removable cover plate as c/a = 0.01-0.25. Changeable inserts are made from material with lower thermal conductivity than that of removable cover plates. Ratio of thermal conductivity of changeable cover plates to that of changeable inserts is within 1.5-5. With reduction in thickness of changeable insert with given thickness of removable cover plates, thermal conductivity of material of changeable inserts undergoes proportional reduction.
