FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: reactor for production of sulfur hexafluoride by direct combustion of sulfur in fluorine contains casing in the form of vertical tube with sulfur and fluorine inlets, surface to spread molten sulfur in thin layer made in the form of vertical cylinder coaxial with casing of reactor having in its top part spreading system to spread molten sulfur across outside surface of cylinder, connected to sulfur inlet over hydraulic lock. Fluorine inlet is connected to lower part of annular chamber formed by casing of reactor and surface of above-indicated reactor. Supplementary fluorine inlet is installed over molten sulfur spreading system. Casing of reactor is provided with cooling jacket. Inside surface of cylinder and sulfur inlet with hydraulic lock are provided with temperature-control systems. Molten sulfur spreading system is constructed in the form of cylindrical housing with of horizontal row of holes shaped as equilateral triangles with downward oriented vertexes. Holes are arranged circumferentially with pitch 5-10 deg. System, on its outer side, is provided with jet baffle in the form of ring coaxial with housing.
