METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETECTION AND PREVENTION OF FIRE DANGER Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: automatic detection and prevention of fire danger on transport facilities with an internal combustion engine and system of protective cushions. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in automatic detection of impact of the transport facility involved in collision by means of sensors and in spraying of fire- extinguishing agent ensured with the aid of a processing control module in accordance with the preset time program through a great number of independently acting nozzles distributed in different points of the transport facility. CO₂ is used as the fire-extinguishing agent, it is available in a container on the transport facility and used as refrigerant in the air-conditioning system of the transport facility. The nozzle in the engine compartment of the transport facility is actuated simultaneously with actuation of the air cushions, and actuation of the nozzles located in the saloon is delayed for a preset period of time relative to detection of impact. The device uses impact detectors and a processing/control module for actuation of the valve means and for control of spraying according to the preset time program serving as components of the system of detection of impact and actuation of air cushions. EFFECT: enhanced safety for car passengers in case of collisions by preventive employment of fire-extinguishing agents just after the impact, reduced number of parts and reduced weight and cost of the system of fire detection and extinguishing. 4 cl, 3 dwg
