FIELD: low-power internal-combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: cellular member placed in muffler shell near low-power engine is coated with catalytically active material and consists of layers of at least partially structured metal sheets forming flow passages; mentioned cellular member is arranged so that at least bulk of exhaust gases escaped from running engine are forced through mentioned passages; cellular member is built up of stack of layers of rolled or folded metal sheets and when installed in muffler shell it is compressed so that with at least 10% or better 20-30% of passages suffering plastic strain it fills up at least part of shell interior. High plastic strain of some passages causes also considerable elastic strain of cellular member to ensure stable position of the latter even under cyclic heat loads. EFFECT: reduced manufacturing cost of converter. 15 cl, 8 dwg
