FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed monolithic through in direction of medium flow honeycomb member is provided with inlet end face from side of oncoming flow, and outlet end face arranged at a distance from first face from side of outgoing flow. Member is made up of at least partially structurized metal sheets placed in layers. Structures of metal sheets form channel walls in direction of flow. Number and, accordingly, size of said channels vary in different sections arranged in series in direction of flow. At least part of structurized metal sheets passes from inlet end face to outlet end face of honeycomb member. Each of said metal sheets has at least one first and one second structure of different sizes. At least one of said structures passes along one axial section of honeycomb member. Additional metal sheets are placed between metal sheets passing through honeycomb member. Thanks to additional metal sheets, number of channels falling at the same area of cross-section is increased in separate sections. To increase heat capacity on these separate sections said additional metal sheets can be made more thick. Material separating line are made on structurized metal sheets between adjacent structures differing in sizes, said lines being arranged mainly square to direction of flow at definite distance from each other. Invention contains description of method of manufacture of monolithic honeycomb member. EFFECT: reduced labor input in manufacture, simplified design of honeycomb member. 16 cl, 7 dwg
