FIELD: railway transport; repairs. SUBSTANCE: cover plate made of wear-resistant steel is placed with overlapping on worn surfaces of carrying part. Cover plate is heated to forging temperature. In process of cooling to temperature lower than Arl, cover plate is uniformly upset by distributed static load to thickness equal to deviation of position of support surface from nominal size. Projecting edges of cover plate are bent to side walls of part in direction of load application simultaneously with upsetting. Value of overlapping is defined with account of distance between welded seams and zones nonexposed to loading in operation equal to minimum half of thickness of wall located at support surface. Load is removed from part and edges of cover plate are welded to part along line of conjugation with part walls. Large part of load is exerted on bent edges, thus relieving welded seam from considerable loads. EFFECT: improved quality of reconditioning. 1 ex, 2 dwg
