FIELD: analytical methods. SUBSTANCE: in a method consisting in reducing gold contained in alloys, catalysts, process solutions, etc., converting reduced gold into complex compound, and measuring luminescence intensity of solution at 77K, for reducing gold(III) into gold(I) and converting it into complex compound, solution of thiourea with equilibrium concentration 1*10-5 to 5*10-4 M in slightly acidic acid is used and, before luminescence intensity measurement at 578 nm, solution is supplemented by sulfate ions to concentration 0.06- 1.0 M.
