FIELD: analytical methods.
SUBSTANCE: ms comprises preparing gold(III) solution, converting gold into complex compound with the aid of sorbent (in particular, silica gel) chemically modified with dipropyldisulfide groups, treating sorbent with water-ethanol solution of Michler thioketone, and measuring coefficient of diffuse reflection of surface gold(I) complex at 540nm. Specifically, silica gel chemically modified with dipropyldisulfide groups is added to gold(III)-containing solution. Mixture is vigorously stirred for 5 min, sorbent is separated from solution by decantation. Ten milliliters of 1-10-5 to 1-10-4 M solution of Michler thioketone in 50% ethanol are poured onto thus separated sorbent, the total stirred for 5 min, sorbent is removed, placed in fluoroplastic cuvette, and coefficient of diffuse reflection at 540nm is measured. Method can be employed when determining gold in process solutions, gold-bearing ores and ore concentrates as well as in processing products thereof.
EFFECT: simplified procedure and lowered detection limit.
