FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying drops of heat-meltable polymer containing radical activator and free from photoinhibitor on front face of stiffening cloth, with drop thickness being equal to E; performing cathodic electron bombardment of front or rear side of stiffening cloth while adjusting depth of penetration of electrons into drops of polymer to provide for transformation of melting point and viscosity within restricted thickness relative to thickness E. Method allows spreading of polymer over stiffening cloth, penetration of it onto opposite surface of stiffening cloth or other parts of garment to be eliminated, and stiffening cloth to be prevented from stiffening to excessive extent. EFFECT: simplified method and improved quality of stiffening cloth. 11 cl, 2 dwg
