FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; testing of fuel devices. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method metered out amount of fuel at high pressure is delivered into high-pressure pneumatic accumulator. Control of pressure of pneumatic accumulator is provided by limiting valve. Fuel to be injected is taken from pneumatic accumulator by means of electrically controlled valve nozzles. Leakage losses are controlled owing to the fact that amounts of fuel delivered into high-pressure pneumatic accumulator of fuel pump and taken out of pneumatic accumulator by means of valve nozzles and limiting valve are compared and, if they are not equal, signaling device is set into operation, or fuel injection device is acted upon. EFFECT: automation of process of revealing leakage in fuel system and improved accuracy of fault detection. 5 cl, 1 dwg
