FIELD: metal working. SUBSTANCE: method is used in grinding of materials difficult to work on surface and cylindrical grinding machines and on numerical-control machines for finishing operations. Method is realized by means of two grinding wheels of identical diameters. Grinding wheels are positioned on coaxial shafts and rotation in opposite directions and feed motion are imparted to them. Workpiece reciprocates relative to wheels. The first wheel is connected rigidly to hollow shaft at angle α to plane perpendicular to axis of rotation. The second wheel is driven to oscillation. For this purpose it is mounted on spherical journal of central shaft by means of faceplate coupled to journal. Faceplate end is intended for contact with end oscillation mechanism which is essentially the first wheel faceplate. External peripheral surface of the second wheel is set up according to sphere and positioned symmetrically relative to center of journal sphere. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 dwg, 2 ex
