FIELD: mechanical engineering, grinding of difficult to work material, particularly, on surface grinding machines, NC machines, machines for finishing operations. SUBSTANCE: two grinding wheels are mounted to the coaxial shafts rotating in opposite direction. The workpiece is imparted in reciprocal motion relative the wheels. The wheels are mounted with an angle of α to the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. End faces of the wheels are parallel to each other and are shifted along the axis to the amount of L≥D•tgα, where D is external diameter of the grinding wheels. Cutting zone oscillates along the axis of rotation of the wheels. EFFECT: enhanced productivity of treatment of high strength materials, reduced power consumptions. 3 dwg, 1ex
