FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: combustion chamber is formed by surface of cylinder cover with rib dividing it into spark plug (main) and plugless (auxiliary) spaces, part of cylinder surface and surface of stepped piston bottom. Recess is formed on surface of upper step of piston bottom whose area is equal to 40-45% of piston bottom. The step plays a part of the displacer. Recess communicates through tangential constricting channel with spark plug space of combustion chamber which accommodates outlet valve. With piston approaching top dead center, charge from plugless space accommodating intake valve is formed into spark plug space along the channel. Vortex, thus formed, flows over area of hot surfaces, strikes against projection of piston and provides turbulence in spark plug zone contributing to quick and stable development of initial burning center. At further development of burning all advantages of two-stage combustion are preserved. EFFECT: improved antishocking characteristics of engine, reduced fuel consumption. 3 dwg
