FIELD: laser engineering; gas-phase coherent radiation sources. SUBSTANCE: process includes conversion of energy of two power sources into energy of two different- intensity electron beams, partial energy conversion of one of them into bremsstrahlung, transfer of bremsstrahlung energy to active laser material within laser cavity followed by transfer of other electron beam energy to this laser material, conversion of some portion of active-material particles energy into electromagnetic radiation, its selection, intensification, and output; coherent radiation shaped in this way is used to actuate additional ionizator in the form of semi-transparent grating so as to convert some portion into incoherent light at the same time exposing active laser material located beyond electrode-to-electrode gap to bremsstrahlung, incoherent radiation, and remaining portion of coherent light; in the process, active laser material is ionized by bremsstrahlung and incoherent radiation thereby intensifying remaining portion of coherent light whereupon intensified coherent light is conveyed coaxially with coherent-radiation source cavity.
