FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engines combustion fuel mixtures and those with compression of air and subsequent delivery of fuel with self- ignition. Method of engine operation comes to cycle delivery of fuel to provide theoretical combustion temperature of fuel with increasing compression ratio of working mixture (air) and choosing ignition advance angle (angle of fuel delivery commencement) to provide maximum pressure in cylinder of said engine. EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced toxicity of exhaust gases, improved reliability of engine owing to prevention of dissociation of combustion products.
