CONTACTLESS GAS SEAL WITH USE OF STATIC PRESSURE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: different types of rotary equipment. SUBSTANCE: gas seal may be used in turbines, fans, compressors and agitators for operation with different types of gases including toxic ones. Body of seal has internal cylindrical part, round internal part and circular part. Rotating sealing ring is secured on rotating shaft. Stationary sealing ring is positioned between three sealing rings of round cross-section and is pressed to rotating sealing ring by means of spring. Many grooves creating static pressure are provided on sealing end surface of stationary sealing ring. Channel for delivery of sealing gas to grooves is made in seal body and in stationary sealing ring. Sealing gas pressure exceeds pressure of fluid medium being sealed. Zone of location of sealed fluid medium communicates with the second closed space positioned on side of spring by means of supply of backpressure. Sealing elements are calculated from preset relations. Said construction ensures effective sealing of fluid medium irrespective of pressure conditions. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 7 cl, 8 dwg
