FIELD: bridge engineering. SUBSTANCE: pier has columns integrated by cross-bar and transversal struts. Novelty is that thickness of struts, as viewed from top, crosswise of bridge pier exceeds the largest cross-sectional area of column in same direction; their length is greater than distance between external edges of extreme columns by at least largest sectional area of column; at least one end of strut on at least top part of bridge is convex-shaped with curvilinear or broken-line outline. EFFECT: improved reliability under heavy ice load conditions and considerable fluctuation of ice movement. 6 cl, 2 dwg
