FIELD: manufacture of composite materials. SUBSTANCE: substrates are loaded inside reaction chamber of infiltration furnace arranging them in ring-shaped stack which bounds inner passage with gaps between substrates. Gas phase entering the reaction chamber is discharged through passage at preheating zone outlet to one of volume formed by inner and outer parts of stack or stacks of substrates, to minimum one preferably. Volume is closed at its opposite end in such way that circulation of gas phase between delivery to reaction chamber and removal from reaction chamber is effected from inner to outer part of stack or stacks or vice versa, gas phase passes through gaps between substrates seeping inside them. EFFECT: avoidance of modification of microstructure of pyrolytic carbon at infiltration. 10 cl, 4 dwg
