FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method value to be adjusted is measured at discrete lengths of time, result is compared with preset value and basing on results of comparison, control action is found and transmitted to fuel supply metering out element. To enlarged sphere of application of proposed method to different types of diesel engines and their operating conditions, discrete lengths of times are changed in duration. To prove stability of measuring process, beginning of each discrete lengths of time is synchronized by pulse leading edge of rotational speed pickup. To bring measurement errors to minimum, only whole number of pickup pulses is included into discrete lengths of time, and following discrete length of time is measured starting from following pulse of pickup.
