FIELD: forestry engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves using slit-cut instrument for cutting out draining slit in the ground when moving along the ground forest fire boundary. The ground taken out in making slit is thrown over the combustible forest material. The ground forest fire looses in intensity when reaching the taken out ground layer and burning turns into glowing in the combustible forest material layer under the ground placed over it. When having reached the draining slit, dividing the combustible forest material layer integrity, burning process is arrested. Sparks produced by fire flame flow over the draining slit and reach the ground area on the other side of the fire front and do not set the combustible forest material layer. After arresting the fire, slit edges are closed when treated with sealing device preventing permafrost layer from heat penetration. Water formed as a result of melting on the area under fire is drained away through the draining slit from the burnt-out area. EFFECT: prevented soil melting in building fire protection mineral barrier strip under permafrost conditions. 2 dwg
