FIELD: fire localizing facilities. SUBSTANCE: method involves treating soil strip with herbicide in second half of summer; two weeks later, burning grass cover grown on said strip and dried by herbicide. Burning of grass cover on strip is spread at high speed, but it is not transmitted to adjoining area since it is covered with green grass. By the end of summer burnt strip has no time to be overgrown with grass, so in spring, which is the most fire hazard period, this strip makes reliable barrier for fire spreading path, since it lacks burning conductive material such as dried last year grass. EFFECT: increased efficiency in preventing spreading of forest and steppe fires over vast areas by localizing separate massifs with strips of burnt dried grass.
