FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of high-strength wear-resistant ceramic composite material, which can be used to create light and high-strength parts of machines and units in aerospace, machine building, chemical and other industries. Method of producing a ceramic composite includes making a moulding powder containing boron carbide powder, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyethylene glycol and carbon monolayer and/or multilayer nanotubes, forming a workpiece from moulding powder, removing the organic phase from the compact at temperature of 100÷200 °C in the volume of alumina powder with dispersion less than 45 mcm, its heat treatment at temperature of 1800÷2200 °C in the medium of inert gas. Obtained workpiece with open porosity of 50-60 vol. % is impregnated with molten metal Al, Mg or their alloys by melting of metal weighed portion on workpiece surface.
EFFECT: simplified manufacture of the boron carbide-based article, reduced weight of the end article and improved physical and mechanical properties.
