FIELD: cleaning industrial circular and waste liquids from mechanical impurities; metallurgy, oil, coal mining and chemical industries. SUBSTANCE: settler has housing with stacks of inclined plates which are laid in thin-layer modules (from 1 to 4). Stacks are filled with parallel plates at distances reducing from lower stack to upper one. Stacks are arranged without clearance between them; lower edges of overlaying stack get in contact with upper edges of under-laying stack; each overlying stack is turned relative to under-lying one through 90 deg. Inner walls of housing and other walls of thin-layer modules form reaction chamber. Starting liquid is fed in upper portion of housing through inlet device which may be used for introducing reagents (flocculants, coagulants), if necessary. Sludge accumulator is connected to lower portion of housing. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of cleaning liquids due to avoidance of secondary turbidity and overloading of subsequent stages with suspended agents; increased degree of use of volume of device. 6 cl, 6 dwg
