FIELD: shipbuilding; marine propulsors. SUBSTANCE: paddle wheel includes vertical shaft and two opposite rectangular blades which are equidistant from shaft; they are positively turned around their axes; streamlined blades have symmetrical profile. Blades are rotated by one drive gear around their axes which are parallel to shaft axis. Drive gear is kinematically linked with driven gear through intermediate hears; driven gears are fitted on half-axles of blades. Width of blades is equal to doubled distance between edge of shaft and axis of rotation of blade. Angle between planes of blades is 90 deg. Vertical shaft is fitted on two supports. Number of teeth in each driven gear is twice as much as compared with driven gear. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and reliability of propulsor; enhanced maneuverability of ship at one-sided rotation of shaft. 11 dwg
