FIELD: mechanical engineering; friction transmissions. SUBSTANCE: proposed variable-speed drive has roller with ball-shaped working surface and two similar bowls with spherical working surfaces which are mounted coaxially. Drive bowls may rotate in synchronism in one direction at limited displacement along axis of rotation; they are pressed to driven roller located between them from both diametrically opposite sides. Axis of roller intersects axis of rotation of bowls, thus changing angle of inclination relative to axis of rotation of bowls. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and reliability of variable-speed drive. 5 dwg
