METHOD OF SEPARATION OF RUBBER FROM WORN-OUT AUTOMOBILE TYRES Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: re-processing of WORN-OUT tyres reinforced by metal members. SUBSTANCE: method can be used for separation and grinding of rubber-cord articles also. According to proposed method, container with put-it tyre installed on movable base is fed to plunger extrusion position, is pressed to die, rubber is extruded through holes in die and simultaneously metal briquette is formed on die surface, then container is returned to loading position, die is turned over and another tyre is put into container. Container with turned-over die is fed extrusion position and is pressed to die and rubber is extruded through holes in die pressing out metal briquette left from previous extrusion by new extrusion products. Container is pressed to die with force equal to 0.1 - 0.2 of extrusion force. Speed of extrusion is maintained within 8 and 20 mm/s, and temperature of extrudate at final stage of extrusion is maintained from 75 to 130 C. Extrusion pressure is maintained within 160 and 200 MPa. Plunger is stopped at plunger- to-die clearance equal to (б+0,1)-(б+1,0) mm where б is minimum thickness of metal briquette. EFFECT: preservation of rubber crumb quality at initial rubber level with possibility of subsequent use of rubber crumb.
