FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes, prior to melting of copper with red phosphorus, loading of granulated copper or copper chips onto bottom of high-temperature vessel to fill its one-fourth volume; loading of red phosphorus; loading of remaining part of granulated copper; compaction of obtained mixture; laying of copper sheet onto mixture; heating of vessel with mixture in furnace under definite conditions. EFFECT: increased quality of alloy, reduced liberation of toxic vapors of phosphorus and expenditures for alloy production.
