FIELD: vacuum-arc wire treatment technology. SUBSTANCE: method includes introduction of wire into vacuum chamber through sealed entry, its continuous transport through zone of vacuum-arc discharge between wire and electrode assembly, and extraction of clean wire from chamber through sealed exit. The latter operation is made concurrently with wire deformation by drawing. Device implementing proposed method has vacuum chamber accommodating means for maintaining arc discharge between wire and electrode assembly, sealed wire entry and exit arrangements, and system for continuous transport of wire to chamber through cleaning unit and for its extraction from chamber. Sealed wire exit arrangement is made in the form of drawhole incorporating cooling and lubricating systems. EFFECT: enhanced capacity and reduced cost. 2 cl, 1 dwg
