FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for reduction of noise and vibration of diesel engines and other ship and stationary plants and can be used also of different objects, such as pipelines, flexible supports of rotating shafts, couplings, etc. Proposed vibration isolator consists of torus-shaped flexible member made from wire rope wound to spiral on at least two inner movable and outer fixed support rings and provided with means for laying, bracing, clamping-fastening of wire rope coils. Flexible member is installed vertically, and support rings are arranged over outer and inner diameters of flexible member. Vibrational energy from engine support is conveyed through inner ring to coils of torus- shaped flexible member. Owing to friction between steel cores of wire rope vibrational energy is dissipated, and transmission of disturbing forces through post to foundation is reduced considerably. Owing to arrangement of support rings on inner and outer diameters of torus, support is spatially stable and provides uniformly symmetrical taking up and distribution of loads.
