FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed piston is made with special insert of vibration damping composite material in form of solid or sectional cylindrical body. Insert is arranged in inner space of piston. Connecting rod small end and piston pin are connected to piston through insert. Insert serves as acoustic barrier between piston, connecting rod and piston pin. Vibration and noise in internal combustion engine are reduced owing to use of insert made of vibration damping composite material and to reduction of piston mass as a whole and, consequently of inertia forces of translationally moving masses which cause noisy operation and vibrations in engine. EFFECT: improved vibroacoustic characteristics of internal combustion engines and other piston machines. 4 dwg
