FIELD: processes for cutting blanks in lathes, particularly flexible blanks. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of determining dynamic, linear and angular compliance values of spindle assembly and tailstock by means of electromagnetic vibrator with use of vibration recording devices for subsequent drawing of mathematical model in the form of sum of oscillation links and calculating stability and critical depth of cutting according to given formulae. In order to reduce time period for calculating critical parameters of cutting process and to provide effective computer calculation of critical depth of cutting blank with step- variable cross section in any point of working space while taking into account intermediate supports such as rests, - dynamic characteristics of supporting upon spindle assembly and upon tailstock are determined. And then according to given formulae dynamic characteristic of the whole lathe is determined. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of cutting characteristics. 4 dwg
