SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel derivatives of phenanthridinium of the general formula (A) where R1- means a free or substituted lower aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R means an aliphatic hydrocarbon chain comprising 2-6 carbon atoms that can be optionally substituted with a substituent taken among including a lower alkyl group, halogen atom or hydroxy-group; each of Y and Z means independently hydrogen atom, hydroxy- or lower alkoxy-group; or Y and Z are combined to form methylenedihydroxy-group or phenyl ring; X- means a residue of acid or hydrogen acid residue and also to derivatives of phenanthridium of the general formula (B) where values R1, R, Y, Z are defined above for the formula (A). Except for, invention discloses 2,3-(methylenedioxy)-7-hydroxy-8-methoxy-5,6-propanobenzo[c]-phenanthridinium salt, a pharmaceutical composition showing an antitumor activity and a method of inhibition of cancer cells growth based on compounds presented.
