METHOD OF PLASMATHERMAL PROCESSING OF SOLID WASTE AND DEVICE FOR REALIZATION OF THIS METHOD Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2183794 C2

FIELD: processing packed waste containing metal admixtures at plants of chemical and petrochemical industries and in public services. SUBSTANCE: method of plasmathermal processing of waste includes continuous supply of air, supply of waste, their gasification and melting ash by plasma jet, removal of melt, after-burning, cooling and cleaning of flue gases. Gasification of waste to form coke residue and to separate gaseous decomposition products, burning coke residue and melting ash are performed simultaneously and continuously in different zones. Melting and burning are effected at excessive oxygen and gaseous products separating at this are mixed at deficiency of oxygen with gaseous decomposition products and are directed for after-burning. Supply of waste is performed periodically in form pf packages; time period between loading cycles is lesser than time required for gasification of one charge. Period of loading ranges from 2 to 5 minutes. Device proposed for realization of this method includes air supply unit and packed waste supply unit, heat treatment chamber with plasmatron mounted inside it and equipped with tap-hole for discharge of melt, gas duct, after-burning and gas-purification units, waste gasification chamber with air supply unit located in series relative to heat treatment chamber and brought in communication with this chamber. Hearth of gasification chamber is located horizontally above level of melt in heat treatment chamber at height "h" lesser than 0.5 m above level of melt in heat treatment chamber. Horizontal distance from gasification chamber as far as point of reference of plasmatron axis to melt is more than or is equal to "h". Gas duct connecting the gasification chamber with after-burning unit is provided with mixer of waste gases of gasification chamber and heat treatment chamber. Length of gasification chamber exceeds size of packed by at least twice. EFFECT: enhanced ecological and economical efficiency of waste processing cycle. 4 cl, 4 dwg
