FIELD: automobile manufacture and bearing production industry branches, namely, automatic dressing of end surfaces of grinding discs in specialized grinding program-control machine tools at double-side grinding of parts with very thin walls. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of dressing discs by several passes when grinding discs are mounted with predetermined gap between their ends; moving dressing tools along circle arc in plane normal relative to spindle axis in condition of plane-parallel motion; forming intermittent macrorelief in the form of alternating circular trapezoidal cross section grooves on working surface of coaxially mounted discs at varying plane of macrorelief in wide range; sustaining constant speed of dressing tool motion and changing rate of axial motion of grinding discs by depth of removed abrasive layer according to step cycle set in control program; setting depth of recess of circular groove by 2-4 times more than that of abrasive layer removed at dressing for one pass. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and quality of surface layer of ground parts, possibility for double-side grinding of blanks without special intermittent grinding discs. 4 dwg
