FIELD: lighting engineering and microwave engineering. SUBSTANCE: microwave exciters and optical radiators built around them are used to build up optical radiation fluxes in visible and ultraviolet parts of spectrum. Proposed microwave exciter of electrodeless gas-discharge lamp has spherical lamp placed in antinode region of electric microwave field of axisymmetric microwave cavity provided with translucent cylindrical side wall and two end walls of which at least one wall is light-proof; novelty is that end walls are made in the form of segments of spherical surfaces whose centers of curvature are aligned with center of electrodeless lamp sphere. EFFECT: enhanced quality of light beam and operating reliability of device; facilitated manufacture. 2 dwg
