FIELD: lighting and microwave engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed microwave exciter is designed for use in electrodeless microwave gas-discharge lamps and radiators built around them which produce optical radiation fluxes in visible or ultraviolet spectra to enhance microwave pumping power at the same time preventing increase in microwave radiation above permissible levels into environment and also ensure reliable starting of steady state discharge and optimal temperature distribution in lamp bulb without lamp rotation. Microwave exciter has coaxial microwave energy transmitting line and axisymmetrical electrodeless lamp with out-of-vacuum through space accommodating coaxially disposed central conductor of coaxial line. Lamp is disposed in line between central conductor and external conductor; central conductor is disposed in through space throughout entire length of lamp and is shorted out at end of line through external conductor; the latter has in vicinity of lamp at least one longitudinal through slit. Lamp is installed in line on alignment support made of heat-resistant dielectric material of low heat conductance. External-conductor longitudinal through slits have equal and/or different width and pitch in azimuth and central-conductor has mirror-reflecting surface beyond vacuum space.

EFFECT: enhanced total efficiency.
