FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; converter steelmaking at top blowing with oxygen through tuyere. SUBSTANCE: method includes delivery of oxidizing gas to melt through tuyere nozzles; angle of inclination of jets of said gas is increased from 13 to 18 deg in the course of converter campaign. Angle of inclination of jets is also regulated depending on quality of steel being made; it is reduced in blowing low-carbon steels. Tuyere nozzles are so made that axis of inner surface of nozzle intersects axis of its outer surface at angle β, equal to 0.5-4 deg. Each nozzle is rotatable around axis of its outer surface and is secured in end head at any angle of inclination at α±β within range of 13 - 18 deg, where α is angle of inclination of outer surface of nozzle to longitudinal axis of tuyere. EFFECT: enhanced resistance of lining; reduced melting losses; increased degree of assimilation of slag-forming materials due to optimization of blow jets in the course of converter campaign. 3 cl, 3 dwg, 1 tbl
