FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more specifically, steel melting in oxygen converters. SUBSTANCE: blowing is carried out with varying position of lance and intensity of oxygen blowing in the second and third periods of heat. In the second period of heat, pressure of oxygen jet is found from interval D2min <D2n <D2max, where D2min, D2max and D2n are minimum, maximum and required blowing pressure of oxygen jet, respectively, GPa. In this case, minimum pressure is calculated by the following relationship: D2min = 0.62 x 1.751 JO2 + 19.08, and maximum pressure is calculated by relationship D2max = 4.3 x 1.38 JO2 + 23.42, where JO2 is blowing intensity, cu.m/t.min. Pressure of oxygen jet in the third period is selected from the interval D3min <D3n <D3max, where D3min, D3max and D3n are minimum, maximum and required blowing pressure in the third period, respectively, GPA. With planned content of carbon in metal of 0.03-0.05%, minimum pressure is calculated by the relationship given in the description of the invention. EFFECT: higher yield of metal, preservation of oxygen lances in operating condition during their service, higher converter productivity and lining stability, reduced consumption of pig iron, deoxidizers and alloying materials. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
