FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more specifically, steel making in converter; applicable in control of blowing and prevention of spittings and overflows of gas-slag-metal emulsion, especially in refining of low-manganese iron. SUBSTANCE: method provides for regulated gas supply through steel tapping hole in metal blowing with oxygen at the moment of passage of the level of steel-tapping hole by upper layer of gas-slag-metal emulsion to ensure checking of foamed gas-slag-metal emulsion and, as a result, efficient prevention of spitting that promotes increase in metal yield, lining stability, decreased consumption of oxidizer and alloying agents. Gas is supplied at the rate of 0.1-3.0 cu.m/t.min for 0.5-10% of oxygen blowing time. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 tbl
