FIELD: woodworking industry. SUBSTANCE: plant has frame, two tools in the form of saw or saw blade for cutting logs from two opposite sides, holding unit where log is caught from end during its working, and device for log positioning before its gripping by holding device. Positioning device is opened during log working. Positioning device presents centering device having two pairs of V-shaped forked elbows with V-shaped hollows facing each other. Elbows act on log from a side. In this case, lower bearing surfaces of V-shaped hollows are longer than upper bearing surfaces. It makes possible to position log longitudinal axis always in the same position spontaneously, i. e. without intervention from outside by control device. In said position, logs are gripped by holding unit, and square-cut beam may be made parallel to log longitudinal axis without problem. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 8 cl, 7 dwg
