FIELD: accelerating solid body (armature) of relatively heavy mass. SUBSTANCE: railotron accelerator has N pairs of rails forming accelerator channel and secured in casing so that first rails of all pairs and second ones of all pairs are separated by insulating gaps; armature incorporating electrically isolated conducting jumpers mounted on common insulator for sliding over rails, their quantity depending on number of rail pairs. Contacting sliding surfaces of at least first and last conducting jumpers of armature and sliding surfaces of rails contacting the latter are configured so that jumpers are held tight against rails due to force of total magnetic field of currents flowing in all armature jumpers. Contacting sliding surfaces of armature jumpers and those of rail pair abutting against them are tilted through acute angle to rail pair plane crossing longitudinal axes of respective armature jumpers. Contacting sliding surfaces of armature jumpers and those of rail pair abutting against them are placed in plane parallel to that of respective rail pair.
