FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a multiturn rail guns. Multiturn rail gun with thyristor bridges between turns includes an acceleration channel, comprising N pairs of current-carrying parallel rails. First rails of all pairs and second rails of all pairs are separated by insulating gaps and form first and second stacks. Armature consists of electrically insulated from each other conducting links on number of rails (N), installed on a common insulator to slide on rails. On channel input side second rails of i-th pair are connected to first rails of i+1 pair (where i=1…N-1) by means of series conducting links, and first rail of first pair and second rail of N-th pair are for connection to power supply. Device also includes M groups of thyristors, with N-1 thyristors in each group. Groups of thyristors are installed along channel, wherein thyristors of each group are located at equal distance relative to beginning of rails and thyristors of other groups, i-th thyristor of each group is connected in forward direction relative to polarity of power supply between rail second stack of i-th pair with rails of first stack of i+1 pair.
