FIELD: inorganic chemistry, chemical technology, chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: metallic selenium is converted to its amorphous form by dissolving in concentrated H2SO4, precipitated, dried and placed into three-necked flask. Hydrocarbon of saturated order CnH2n+2 where n ≥ 9, for example nonane or decane is used as a nonaqueous solvent that is placed preliminary into flask and mixture is brought about to temperature 150-200 C followed by addition of metal compound, for example, copper (II) hexanoate and reaction is carried out for 4-8 h. The mole ratio of metal to selenium = 1 : (1-4). Synthesized product is filtered off in hot state, washed out with hot acetone and nonane and dried finally. Process is safe ecologically. The yield of metal selenide is 75-94%. Invention can be used in production of antifriction alloys, catalysts, luminophores, semiconductors.
