METHOD FOR MAKING BALL JOINT Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: machine engineering, namely methods for making articulation joints. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of making in housing recess with spherical bottom and rolled land and also making ball head with stem and connection neck; placing ball head to recess of housing; making on end of rolled land tapered portion directed towards its outer surface and squeezing rolled land along ball head for forming inner spherical surface of land similar to spherical surface of bottom; after squeezing placing end surface of rolled land normally relative to lengthwise axis of housing. Before placing ball head in recess of housing, providing diameter of inner cylindrical surface of rolled land identical to that of spherical surface of bottom and making height h of cylindrical portion determined according to given relation; then making tapered portion and performing squeezing operation. Above mentioned size of rolled land allows to improve reliability of rolling-in of ball joint and to provide desired angle of stem deflection relative to housing at operation of ball joint due to necessary embracing of ball head by means of rolled land after squeezing. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of ball joint made according to such method. 2 dwg
