SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel stable crystalline calcium or magnesium salts of (6R,S)-, (6S)- or (6R)-tetrahydrofolic acid, method of their preparing and a pharmaceutical composition based on thereof. Method of preparing the indicated salts involves crystallization of the corresponding tetrahydrofolic acid salt from polar medium at pH values from 7 to 10, at increased temperature mainly and/or from diluted solutions, in part, from water or its mixture with water- soluble solvent, for example, acetic acid or a lower organic alcohol. Invention relates to also a pharmaceutical composition comprising indicated salts. The proposed salts can be used as an agent regulating metabolic processes in body, as antagonists of the known antitumor preparations, for example, methotrexate, as an antidote for enhancement of tolerance of folic acid antagonists, for treatment of megaloblastic folate-dependent anemia and autoimmune diseases, for enhancement of tolerance of antiparasitic agents and for decrease of toxicity of dideazatetrahydrofolates in chemotherapy carrying out.
