FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves charging iron ore material, fluxes and coke of wide-range fraction composition, with coke to be charged being preliminarily separated into fractions of +400 mm and +25 mm in the ratio of 1:2.5-3.0. Large-sized fraction coke is charged into furnace central part and coke of +25 mm fraction is directed to iron ore ridge and to peripheral parts. EFFECT: increased efficiency and reduced consumption of coke. 1 tbl
