FIELD: forestry. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing digitized values of functions of brightness I (x,y) of images in the form of matrices of discreet counts by unequal sizes [mxn] of members in R and G zones; determining ratio of spectral brightness coefficients of said zones; calculating matrices picture elements ratio of zones R and G; forming resultant matrix from these ratios; separating contours on resultant image by three-dimensional differentiation method; calculating functions of fractal inequality of image within contours and judging reasons, coordinates and extent of revealed pathology on the basis of digital value of fractal inequality, position of contours and areas thereof.
